About Stemilt
Stemilt is a family owned and operated tree fruit company in Wenatchee, WA that grows, packs, and ships apples, pears, cherries and stone fruits. Our company was founded by Thomas Mathison back in 1964 and is still owned and operated by 4th and 5th generations of the Mathison family today. Tom’s grandson, West Mathison, leads the company as President while his brother and fellow 5th generation family member, Tate Mathison, serves as Director of Sales.

Responsible Choice® is Stemilt’s sustainability and social responsibility program that focuses on nurturing people and the planet. A few steps we’ve taken to support this mission is the Stemilt Organic Recycling Center and our EFI and Bee Friendly Farming certifications.
Stemilters
We come to work everyday to grow fruit that is World Famous and we couldn’t do it without our dedicated Stemilters. We employ 1,600 Stemilters year-round and have 4,000 people during cherry season. Growing World Famous Fruit is no easy feat, and we need all hands on deck to improve with each day.

EFI Certification
The Equitable Food Initiative is a third-party certification that was designed for growers like Stemilt to increase transparency and assurance around farming working conditions. The EFI certification and its 300+ standards has aligned well with our company values and mission statement to cultivate people with proper training techniques and provide a safe, healthy working environment.
Food Safety
We firmly believe in the importance of food safety and its necessity regarding a safe, secure food supply. At Stemilt, we believe in fostering a food safety culture that creates an environment where employees feel able and empowered to voice their concerns. It is everyone’s job to help recognize and mitigate risk, and we are working hard every day to ensure our Stemilters feel aware, involved and empowered.

Meet West Mathison, Stemilt President
West has served as the president/CEO of Stemilt Growers since 2005. Like many children of farmers, he grew up working various jobs on the farm and many areas of Stemilt’s business.
Under West’s leadership, Stemilt’s cherry program evolved into the nation’s supply and availability leader. The company also leads with innovative new varieties, packaging and brands. Stemilt operates two fruit packing facilities in Washington State and one in Stockton, CA.
As President, West is focused on cultivating people and delighting consumers through excellence.
